The German office of Zeidler was founded in Berlin in 1992. Since 1998 it has been located in "Mitte" - the city centre hub of avant-garde life in the German capital. The office has designed hospital and apartment projects, shopping centres, entertainment and cultural buildings as well as numerous hotels. Its focus on urban construction is of particular significance to the development of projects within the German industrial/economic sphere including Cologne's MediaPark urban renewal project. The Berlin office numbers among its clients, developers, institutions and urban municipalities as well as private clients. Within the context of the economic opening of the former Eastern Block countries, the Berlin office continues its emphasis on projects in the CIS states.
Thomas Hübener is the Director of the Berlin office. Following studies under Gottfried Böhm at the University of Aachen, in 1985 Thomas joined Zeidler in their Toronto office before going on to set up the Zeidler office in Berlin. Thomas and head of design Jochen Eisentraut, who joined the office over 16 years ago, are in charge of the Zeidler Berlin office.
