Over three decades ago, an atrium full of trees, fountains, walkway bridges and glassed-in elevators set a new standard for architectural design in the Walter C. Mackenzie Hospital in Edmonton. The principles of designing attractive and pleasant spaces for people that respond to rapid advances in industry-specific knowledge guides the work of Zeidler Partnership Architects to this day. The Calgary office is led by principals Katherine Robinson, Martin Veenhoven and Michael Cojocar. They work closely with Tarek El-Khatib and Vaidila Banelis, senior partners of the firm. Members of our Alberta team have been working from the prairies to the coast for over 30 years, providing a local knowledge and presence as well as an appreciation for the economy, vernacular architecture, local geography and climatic regions of the province.

Hotel and Resort
The Calgary office is home to Zeidler's Hotel and Resort Studio, with exciting projects that have proven to be highly successful in the tourism industry such as Bear Mountain Golf Resort, Silvercreek Lodge, the Whitecap Dakota Village Master Plan and Sheraton Eau Claire. The firm's resort master plans have helped to provide comprehensive road maps for our clients' development plans. Each project is designed with a distinct character, echoing regional vernacular, the client's unique vision and what will work for the market.

Education
Our team brings experience from various universities, digital media zones and resource centres to rethink the shape of tomorrow's academic space in the digital age. We help institutions propel themselves into the future and build diverse urban communities.

High-rise
The Calgary office maintains a prominent position in high-rise buildings in the west. Zeidler/BKDI is currently working with Cadillac Fairview on the Calgary City Centre, a 40-storey, Class-A mixed-use tower being designed to LEED Gold standards. In Zeidler's role as executive architect for The Bow, we are in the final construction phase for EnCana/Cenovus. We also bring expertise in the design of luxury condominiums and hotels. Our work raises the bar in terms of the quality of Calgary's architectural design.

Healthcare
The firm's work on Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre established Zeidler's healthcare presence in Alberta. This project also helped to set some of the foundations for the team's thinking in healthcare innovation, which continually evolves to address rapidly changing needs in community health. Past work includes the Misericordia Community Hospital Cabrini Building renovation and NICU/ICU renovation, Hobbema Health Centre addition and the Kainai Continuing Care Centre on the Blood Indian Reserve. More recently, the firm has completed work on the Royal Jubilee Inpatient Tower, BC as a PDC architect and is currently working on the redevelopment of a hospital in Vancouver with the Provincial Health Services Authority.

Sustainability
We maintain a commitment to sustainable design, with LEED Accredited Professionals assigned to every team. Zeidler is pleased to be able to offer our clients innovative thinking and responsive design as we work with them to realize their sustainability objectives.
